Hi Jacqueline,
The whole website structure has just been updated and unfortunately we’ve lost our pictures and links. I’ve just tried to reinstate them for this post but I’m not sure they’ll stick, so here’s the url for the iplayer so you can cut and paste it (the time you need is 2:10): http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b04lbtxw/liberal-democrats-conference-2014-05102014
In short I developed policy to sort out Ofsted which requires it to apply modern high standards of regulation which will substantially reduce the amount of ‘collateral damage’ caused by its activities. The policy gives schools and other educational organisations the right to challenge Ofsted effectively to improve its practice if it makes bad judgements or uses outdated methods. It’s already legally bound to these standards for its activities with public and private schools, as most regulators are for all their work. The policy already has a great deal of support across the party and I was angry at conference because a big opportunity to get it ratified by the whole party had been missed. On to Liverpool.
